Google’s NikCollection – Photo Editing for FREE! — A Kat and A Mouse

I saw a blurb on one of my feeds several days ago about Google making their Nik Collection (a photo editing tool) free. You can read about it here. The software, which was previously sold for $149, is now being offered for free by Google. I, of course, tool whore that I am, immediately downloaded […]

Reyn’s Big AAdventure

PrintIt’s not often that I get a chance to go to a big city and see all the cool stuff. I guess they have more room or better taste or something. So I dressed carefully: fresh t-shirt; vacuumed kilt; mud-free boots, mostly-mud-free may be more accurate. Every girl is crazy about a sharp-dressed man.

I grabbed my smallish sketch book, licked my eyebrows nervously and hit the TP link in my inventory!

Pretty sweet place, that AAcme City!

And my etchings shall take us both there.

Reyn peers at her in the half-light of the bar, noting how the blinking beer signs highlight her face in alternating patterns. “Come home with me to see my etchings,” he suggests.

She takes in his unkempt appearance and odd behaviors, but decides to reject him gently. “Oh pshaw, Reyn! You are such a silly.” She smiles kindly and waves her hand palm downward in a soft cat-paw dismissal.

She touches his shoulder, and smiles again as she slips off her stool.”You just finished telling me that all of your etchings are published on your blog.”

and so they are

Cheers, Reyn

The Dark Alt

I am a Guest Blogger. Reyn noted other bloggers have guest bloggers, mostly reblogs he thinks, and so he asked me to guest blog on his blog and then it would be most guest-like.

Be with you in a minute or so …

I am Reyn’s alt. His Dark Alt, he calls me.

The Dark Alt

Haven’t got a clue about what to blog about. Essentially I’m an alchemist wizard, well, a half wizard, my funding ran out at the Madame Burrury’s Finest School For Wizzards and Magikal Creatures School of Magik part-way through my 8th year. So, half a wizard, small w really.

But alchemy! I have dreams of turning gold into lead so the OpenSims don’t run out of lead. Even though the worlds are virtual, children somewhere need HB pencils to draw their imaginational things. Imagine the weeping if all they had was crayons and magic markers and colored pencils and scented markers and glitter markers, um, so I persist. I have hoarded gold under the watchful eye of a dragon who trains me for 10% of the horde. We call it The Horde.

And I pick away at The Horde and try a combination of alchemy and magic, even though I’ve been trained in magik, but don’t have enough to do it right, as Madame Burrury was always yelling about. She was always yelling about something. Trey! Get back in here! Trey! Put out that flaming glass of whiskey! Trey! Pay your bills! Always yelling.

So far, not much luck. Plus, I lost my last cave to a slight mishap which explains the glued-on eyebrows and why I wear an armored cod-piece. It’s not for the other thing. Safety second apparently even though Madame Burrury was always yelling Trey! It’s not SAFETY SECOND YOU IDIOT! She really liked to yell that one whether I was conscious or not, according to the other students.

That sure feels like enough guesting because I have nothing to share really. Reyn is on his own for this column I expect. Or blog. Column, I laugh. Madame Burrury was always yelling Trey! That graduated column is going to explode! before she grabbed her big orange wig and ran squealing from the room.

Nothing to say, nope.

See You in September

I am enjoying SL 12B as fast as lag allows. I need to find that sign for a photo opp. It resonates with my thinking.

Million Happy Endings

wednesday_002I surely don’t want to miss all of SL12B and am enjoying as much of it as I can. One of my favorite exhibits is 10 Truths by Livio Korobase. I seem to recall really liking his exhibit last year too. wednesday_005Like last year I’ve come across information that I want to look into further although I have no idea how I’ll find time to do so.

For the next twelve weeks or so I’ll be taking next steps to heal my health issues which I’m hopeful and cautiously excited about. The meal plans are labor intensive and how I’ll respond is an unknown. I’m having a bit of a histamine response this week.wednesday_006This last round of LEA is coming to a close. For the past five months I’ve been intensely involved with LEA’s Medici University, having a studio there and participating in drawing, virtual tai chi, photography, writing…

Windlight: a new magazine for art in Second Life

Art reflects the vision or imagination of people – probably tormented people – and what an excellent way to understand or to appreciate – or to try – their message.
That was the least complicated sentence I could use – honest!

Inara Pey: Living in a Modemworld

WindlightWindlight is the the title of a new arts magazine for Second Life which will be launching in July 2015.

Founded by John (Johannes1977 Resident), himself an SL photographer and also RFL of SL activist, Windlight brings together a talented team to cover art in all its forms in SL with monthly news, reviews, articles, interviews, commentary and more.

A joint venture with AviChoice Productions, organisers of the the Avi Choice Awards and publishers of Avi Choice Magazine, Windlight’s goal is to cover the Second Life art scene and to support  artists, photographers, galleries, and art-related events. The first issue will feature artist Bryn Oh, and photographer Skip Staheli alongside Sasun Steinbeck, Nikki Mathieson and more.

When I call the team behind the magazine talented, I’m not exaggerating. Joining John, who is the magazine’s co-publisher and editor as well is its founder, are: Nikki Mathieson, owner of Avi Choice…
